
Historic Gold Dredge 8
Gold Dredge 8 extracted over 7.5 million ounces of gold from the rich paydirt of the Goldstream Valley on its 4.5-mile trek from 1928 to 1959. Once retired, it joined the National Historic Registry as a historic district in 1984.
Tanana Valley Railroad
Enjoy a short, narrated train ride through Alaska’s mining history on a replica of the Tanana Valley Railroad. Along the way, you will experience historical forms of placer mining and an in-depth lesson on the daily operations of Gold Dredge 8.

Gold Panning
On your train ride, Alaskan miners will demonstrate the gold panning process. Once you arrive in camp, you will receive a poke filled with gold-rich pay dirt. Our friendly, knowledgeable guides will be on standby to assist you in recovering your gold. Nothing beats the thrill of taking home real Alaskan gold!
Living Mining Museum
The Mining Museum is an integrative experience in our Main Camp, packed with history and artifacts from the early 1900s. You'll be guaranteed to learn more about the gold mining process: clearing the land, thawing the frozen ground, and the final gold recovery. You will also learn from the hearty sourdoughs who first prospected the area. Finally, you will have a chance to see an arrangement of ice age fossils found on these grounds.
